지난 7월 23일, 잔지바르 운구자 섬에서 해조류 분야 이니셔티브 ZaSCi (Zanzibar Seaweed Cluster Initiative)가 주최한 ‘해조류의 날’ 행사에 신만식 소장 포함 사무소 직원 3명과 동창회 회원이 참여하였습니다. ‘지속 가능한 해조류 양식업 공동체 육성 및 해양 보전’이라는 주제로 진행된 행사에서 동창회 회원은 토론 패널로 참석하여 해조류 양식업과 기후 변화 완화 관련 지식 확산 활동을 수행했습니다. 이를 통해 100명의 지역 주민들이 이들의 발표를 통해 중요한 환경 지식을 습득할 수 있었습니다.

탄자니아 사무소는 현재 ‘해조류 여성 어업 종사자 역량 강화 사업’을 진행 중이며, 이번 행사에서는 해조류를 포함한 청색 경제 분야의 KOICA 사업 현황과 연수 과정을 통한 역량 개발 경험을 공유하며, 기후 변화와 환경 문제 해결을 위한 우리의 노력을 재확인하는 시간을 가졌습니다.

KOICA 탄자니아 사무소는 앞으로도 지속 가능한 발전과 환경 보호를 위해 계속해서 노력하겠습니다.

Hello, this is the KOICA Tanzania office.

On Tuesday, July 23, three office employees, including Director Shin Man-sik, and KOAT (KOICA Alumni of Tanzania) members, participated in the “Seaweed Day” event on the island of Unguja, Zanzibar. The event was hosted by an official seaweed sector initiative in Zanaibar called ZaSCi ((Zanzibar Seaweed Cluster Initiative) and was held under the topic of “Fostering a Sustainable Seaweed Farming Community and Conserving the Ocean.”

In particular, KOAT members attended the event as a discussion panel and shared knowledge regarding seaweed farming and climate change mitigation activities. Through their knowledge-sharing activities, more than 100 local residents acquired important environmental knowledge.

KOICA Tanzania Office is currently conducting a project called “Capacity Building Project for Women in Seaweed Fisheries” in Zanzibar and was able to share the current status of the project and history of capacity development through KOICA’s Global Fellowship Program, named CIAT(Capacity Improvement & Advancement for Tomorrow). Furthermore, the KOICA Tanzania office reaffirmed its efforts to address climate change and environmental issues.

KOICA Tanzania Office will continue to make efforts to achieve sustainable development and actively take part in protecting Mother Earth.
